Blind Date Series Standings

Thom Schoenborn

Yes, definitely one of my favorite race series. Charging around in the dark
is a great confidence builder.

Obviously Ron and Steve should just hug it out. Whoever breaks the hug
first loses.

Joe, Craig Earl / all...
I will suggest to Steve at dinner tonight that we buy each other a beer (or whatever he wants) and call it even. Training fluids are important. But the suggestions are fun and something comes up we both like, we could do the tonight thing and...
My cat now demand FUD.

Indeed, the Blind Date Series is great from top to bottom. A maxi-fun course, the excitement of racing under the lights and flawless organization and execution. Fantastic.

As far as the tie breaker, I'd suggest a fight in the Octagon, but there are enough fights amongst cyclists on Youtube to know that cyclist fights are never pretty.

Thanks again, BD crew!

As you can see, we have a dead tie for first place in the Men’s 60+ category between Ron Strasser and Steve Lacey. Please provide your suggestions for a tie breaker!

A shout out to the BLIND DATE series. Alpenrose is a special place and this series is just plain fun. It is tough for sure and being old the “Blind” spots do create challenges (for me) at times. But dating at my age is about as good as it gets and some racing and emotional drama are well worth sneaking out of the care home on Wednesday nights. All this naughtiness and still a rated “G” Alpenrose event. Thanks Tony and Joe (and your “get it done crew”, sponsors and of course OBRA) for putting on this series which gets people off the couch mid. week.

Along with the Rapha Cup up at PIR, Portland Metro racers have two great series to choose from. Whichever is more convenient for a mid-week / night race.

Now we just need the City, County or Metro to step up and provide a PERMANENT Cyclocross (off road) race venue for events like this all year. Portland without such a venue is like Toronto with a Hockey Arena!!! We have the most Cyclocross racers in the nation and struggle to maintain venues. Keep the off road cycling pressure on these government agencies you young OBRA members. It will pay dividends for you and your kids.

I suggest either a cage match wearing inflatable sumo suits, or, as they
used to do when Ron and Steve were young, custom dueling pistols at 20
paces.
