Just as I suspected. The Cross Crusade took the Cascade Locks site and turned it into an excellent course. I heard people saying it was bumpy....but they just did not try lines other than what was worn in. There were bumps, but think about Het Meer, Ninkrossi, Barlow, Zaldercross, Alpenrose, PIR, Canby and others. All of them had some extreme bumpiness! The most bumpy section I have encountered this year was out on the SW field section of Barlow....but Barlow is a fantastic course.
I loved this course today. It was so neat how they kept it so immediate for spectating and broke it so much with the different surfaces we had to navigate. This course was a good one for learning how to deal with different surfaces and in quick sequences.
Crusade Crew. I have been doing this some years now and I have NEVER been let down by what you designed. Your courses tend to allow riders with the best fitness and skills work toward the front of the pack. They almost always provide a good balance for riders with the power of a top road rider as well as those with the technical skills of a mountain biker. At the same time, these courses initiate the newer riders not only to the format of Cyclocross, but how to handle their bikes on many surfaces. You help make people better riders.
Thank you for doing what you do. Great day of racing.
