hikers don't want to see ANYONE on the trail. even as a trail runner i get angry looks, disgruntled groans and sometimes even some verbal stuff when i run past a hiker. and "yes." i call out my "on your left"s and such. not to mention i'm barely going faster than their hiking pace. that being said, "NO." no electric bikes. the handicap assist thing is something to think about but does that mean there should be wheelchair accessible ramps going rim-to-rim in the grand canyon? so again, no. if you can't pedal uphill on your own then maybe consider hiking and save your e-bike for trails that do accept motorized vehicles
