INFORMATION FOR POTENTIAL TNT CYCLING COACHES
Team in Training is a comprehensive endurance training program for runners,
walkers, and cyclists to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The goal
of Team in Training is to increase funding to support the Society?s mission
while promoting fitness & healthy lifestyles.
We are currently recruiting for a cycling group to attend the ride in Tahoe
in June. The training for that "season" will run from Jan. 24th - June 6th.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Our cycling coach will be responsible for the following:
v Helping with recruitment - We will be holding 1 informational meetings
on January 14th at Pace Setter Athletic in Eugene. In addition, it would be
helpful if the coach could help us to leverage his/her contacts to help get
the word out.
v Training schedules - All participants will be given a daily training
schedule outlining their daily mileage, cross-training or strength-training
recommended.
v Coach-led team training rides - The coach will be responsible for
leading 2 weekend rides per month and 1 weekday windtraining session per
month at a minimum. In addition, the coach will work with team Mentors
(Mentors help our participants to reach their fundraising goals) to
establish routes and objectives for the alternate weekend trainings.
v Training clinics - These clinics will be held once/month (5 total) with
the Coach covering some aspect of training off the bike (nutrition, injury
prevention, etc).
v Coaches' training - Every coach is required to attend a Team in
Training Coaches Certification. Our next one is being help in Tahoe in June
2004 in conjunction with Tahoe.
PAYMENT
Upon the satisfactory completion of the above-outlined responsibilities, The
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will compensate you $40 per finisher. A finisher
is defined as a participant who completes the training and the fundraising
program, raising the fundraising minimum associated with America?s Most
Beautiful bike Ride in Tahoe. Payment will be made in one payment at the
conclusion of the event. The final payment will be based on the total number
of finishers.
SUMMARY OF TIME COMMITMENT
Of course, we hope to recruit a coach from whom the mission is a motivating
factor to be involved and for whom the time spent will be enjoyable. We
understand that our coach will have outside activities to work around, so
here is a summary of the time commitment:
v Recruitment meetings ? January 14th - 1 ?1 1?2 hours each.
v Kick-off Meeting - January 14 will include a ride prior to the Kick-off
Party and then a coach introduction/training clinic during the program.
v Training schedules ? dependent on coach ? will need schedule for 3
different levels.
v Coach-led team training rides ? every other weekend from January to
June and rides of various lengths.
v Training clinics ? these are held monthly in conjunction with 4 of the
coach-led team training rides.
v Calls from participants ? various issues may arise during the week and
the participant will want to talk with the coach.
