Q: What are the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National Championships?

A: They are, quite simply, the National Championships of our great land.

National Championship jerseys and medals are up for grabs in the elite

races, as well as, all of the age group categories. We even have some

"non-championship" events like men's and women's category B & C and the

first ever Single Speed (unisex) category at a 'cross natz event.

Q: Who can race in the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Anyone who is eligible. Basically, if you are an American citizen,

you are eligible.

Q: What are the eligibility requirements for the 2003 Saturn USCF

Cyclocross National Championships?

A: The specific eligibility requirements are outlined at

Q: Why should I race the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Does a bear.....never mind....

Q: What tires will hook up best in the goose poop laden fields of the

2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National Championships?

A: Since Michelin does not make a "GoosePoo Max" tire, you'll have to use

your own personal preference in tires.

Q: What's the weather forecast for the Men's Masters 44-49 race at the

2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National Championships?

A: What do I look like a weatherman? Try www.noaa.org

Q: Will I need a 48 tooth chainring at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross

National Championships?

A: Need is an awfully strong word. If you like a 48t ring, PIR may be a

good place to put it to use.

Q: Do I need a bike to race at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Need makes sense in this question. Of course you need a bike.

Q: Will there be UCI regulation barriers at the 2003 Saturn USCF

Cyclocross National Championships?

A: Yes indeed.

Q: Will there be run-ups at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Of course.

Q: How often will I need to dismount at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross

National Championships?

A: As often as you like. Dismounts are fun and part of racing 'cross.

However, "unplanned dismounts" should be kept to a minimum.

Q: Can I use disk brakes at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: I'm sure you have the ability to....they work much the same as regular

brakes....you just squeeze the lever to slow down and/or stop. However, the

UCI came out with a ruling that does not allow the use of disc brakes in

cyclocross competition. That means that they WILL NOT be allowed in the

Elite Men's, Elite Women's, Men Espoirs and Junior 17-18 Categories.

Q: What else is there to do at the event besides race? Is it good for

spectators?

A: Let's see....we have all the domestic pro's coming to town. All of

them. The racing will be epic. We also have a huge Expo area; a beer and

wine garden (for those of legal age); After racing is done for the day, you

can take the family to the x-mas light show around PIR's track (this is not

a Natz function, but pretty darn cool).

Q: Did you say beer and wine garden?

A: I did. MacTarnahan's Brewing products will be for sale in the beer

garden, right on the race course. Belly up to the bar (preferably after

your race) and toast in the name of cyclocross! Some very nice Oregon wines

will also be featured and sold by the glass at the beer/wine garden.

Q: When will the results be posted for the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross

National Championships?

A: Results are being done by D&L Sound and will be posted on site for all

to see. Awards for all championship categories will be awarded on site.

We'll get the results on the web as fast as those things typically happen.

Q: Is it too early to ask about the 2004 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Yes. But we will tell you that it is set to take place again in good

'ol Portland, Oregon.

allowed in the Elite Men's, Elite Women's, Men Espoirs and Junior 17-18

Categories.

Q: What else is there to do at the event besides race? Is it good for

spectators?

A: Let's see....we have all the domestic pro's coming to town. All of

them. The racing will be epic. We also have a huge Expo area; a beer

and wine garden (for those of legal age); After racing is done for the

day, you can take the family to the x-mas light show around PIR's track

(this is not a Natz function, but pretty darn cool).

A: I did. MacTarnahan's Brewing products will be for sale in the beer

garden, right on the race course. Belly up to the bar (preferably after

your race) and toast in the name of cyclocross! Some very nice Oregon

wines will also be featured and sold by the glass at the beer/wine

garden.

A: Results are being done by D&L Sound and will be posted on site for

Why would a US National Championship require Elite Men/Espoirs and Elite

Women races have International Racing Licenses? Why not just a USCF

License? Seems fishy to me...

A: Need is an awfully strong word. If you like a 48t ring, PIR may be a

good place to put it to use.

A: Need makes sense in this question. Of course you need a bike.

Q: Will there be UCI regulation barriers at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross

National Championships?

A: Yes indeed.

Q: Will there be run-ups at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Of course.

Q: How often will I need to dismount at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross

National Championships?

A: As often as you like. Dismounts are fun and part of racing 'cross.

However, "unplanned dismounts" should be kept to a minimum.

Q: Can I use disk brakes at the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: I'm sure you have the ability to....they work much the same as regular

brakes....you just squeeze the lever to slow down and/or stop. However, the

UCI came out with a ruling that does not allow the use of disc brakes in

cyclocross competition. That means that they WILL NOT be allowed in the

Elite Men's, Elite Women's, Men Espoirs and Junior 17-18 Categories.

Q: What else is there to do at the event besides race? Is it good for

spectators?

A: Let's see....we have all the domestic pro's coming to town. All of

them. The racing will be epic. We also have a huge Expo area; a beer and

wine garden (for those of legal age); After racing is done for the day, you

can take the family to the x-mas light show around PIR's track (this is not

a Natz function, but pretty darn cool).

Q: Did you say beer and wine garden?

A: I did. MacTarnahan's Brewing products will be for sale in the beer

garden, right on the race course. Belly up to the bar (preferably after

your race) and toast in the name of cyclocross! Some very nice Oregon wines

will also be featured and sold by the glass at the beer/wine garden.

Q: When will the results be posted for the 2003 Saturn USCF Cyclocross

National Championships?

A: Results are being done by D&L Sound and will be posted on site for all

to see. Awards for all championship categories will be awarded on site.

We'll get the results on the web as fast as those things typically happen.

Q: Is it too early to ask about the 2004 Saturn USCF Cyclocross National

Championships?

A: Yes. But we will tell you that it is set to take place again in good

'ol Portland, Oregon.
