Beth,
I fully support what you are trying to do. My childhood best friend was a Cuban refugee. It's not much but on behalf of Bridge City Pressure Washing and First City Cycles, I would like to donate $50 towards what ever bike stuff you may need. Just give me a list of what you might need after you get other donations and I can pick it up from the shop and drop them off to you.I would also personally like to know where I can drop off house and kid stuff. I'm about to move and will have some stuff I need to get rid of.Thanks,Stewart 503-875-6808

My synagogue is partnering with Catholic Charities to gather household items for newly-arrived refugee families that are settling in Portland. I am gathering donated bikes from fellow congregants and fixing them up so they can be distributed to the families as affordable transportation. (Many of these people can't even afford bus fare right now until they find work.)
I am seeking donations of old working headlights with brackets (I'll provide batteries if needed); patch kits and tire levers, and working locks with key. If you have extras of any of these items it would really help me to make the bikes complete before we hand them off. As I am underemployed right now, I can only spend so much out of pocket.
Email me OFF-list to arrange drop off in NE Portland. Many thanksBeth Hamon (Team Slow) http://www.beth-hamon-music.com_______________________________________________
