Here's a novel idea...Plan ahead.
Children are told to pee before getting in a car for a
long trip and (usually) manage to hold things
together.
Seriously, these are B.S. excuses.
Someone pee'd on the side of an ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
People call in FAVORS to secure these venues...Then
they are embarassed by the actions of racers who have
trivial excuses.
There were porta-potties AND the Junior High School
was open and had a bathroom as well.
You wouldn't walk over and piss on the side of your
neighbor's house so don't piss in other public places.
Harumph!

It is a Men's (6 person) portapotty.
i think a "pee only" line at the races would be
very helpful. a dedicated
portapotty, kind of like the 10 items or less line
at the grocery store. i
can make the signs.

Kevin, Mike,
Thanks for the reminder! I know I have been guilty
of this. I try to be
discreet. Often the time I want to go (which is
usually minutes before the
race begins) the portopotties are full! I have
rented these before for
events so I know the cost is prohibitive to have
more available so I won't
ask.
Races that have a lot of forest nearby are
perfect. I can ditch my bike and
clamber through the trees for a ways. However
there are a few races, like
Cherry Pie and Piece of Cake, that are wide open
for miles and there is no
place to hide! For those races it would be nice to
have more portopotties.
(I just said I would not ask and there I go!) It
would keep us out of
trouble. Maybe you could increase the race fee
slightly to offset the cost.
I get the feeling this is a grey area, so please
correct me if I am saying
anything that would not be cool. I understand why
public urination is "the
most common reason for loss of race venues".
Americans are not very tolerant
of this.

As I have pointed out before, the most common
reason for loss of race venues
is public urination. If you see someone peeing in
public at a bike race you
should point out to them that this is not cool.
Officials that see this
should penalize the rider. To me, personally,
peeing in public is not that
big a deal. Unfortunately, many people in the
public don't agree with this.
We need to pay attention to this because race
venues are not easy to get.

I just wanted to say thank you to the selfish
person who relieved
themselves by the gradeschool this weekend at the
Vinter Cross race.
That person has made the negotations to have the
race next year an
uphill battle.
When you have to go, it might not seem like a big
deal, but promoters
spend money on portapotties for a reason.
