Great......he is like me in some ways...as long as he has an assistant or
someone that knows the course as well as he does.
If Petr takes medical up to assist an injured rider, we/OBRA need someone
to control the finish, to possible shut down or delay the event if it is a
bad injury, finish riders on a lap ect. This is where a OBRA ref comes in
for MTB.

MTB officials unless they have ridden and raced in the particular area
that they will officiate will seldom pre ride the course and or know
exactly the nuances of the course to be able to understand where a rider
took a wrong turn, or to be able to ensure competitive fairness. Of course
this could change for 2017, especially for new events which take so much
time to simply put on a MTB race...no easy task from land issues to safety.

We rely for the most part on riders honesty and integrity to self manage
while on course. Making sure the racers know where medical is located and
having good coms on course and sweep riders to be able to respond in the
case of an emergency is critical for safety.

The good news is MTB insurance is rated above quite a few other disciplines
for safety compared to Tri or Road, I guess it hurts more on
pavement....keep the rubber side down!

I'm CJ and Petr Kakes is going to 'act' as CR. He has volunteers to help me at the finish line.
Thanks for asking!
