Explanation of Bar Points

Candi Murray/Oregon Bicycle Racing Assn

2003-12-31

Best all round rider points are given to every race held in Oregon (Even the

Camas Washington ones). They are given to the top 15 riders in each

category. The point break down is at the end of the message. I keep a

separate spreadsheet for Road, Mtn, Criterium, Time Trial, Track, CCX. That

way you can see how you do in any particular type of discipline. The

weekday events get points for each month of competition. So that way PIR

won't overshadow any of the weekend events. Stage Races and Omniums get an

extra set of points for the overall totals. State Championships get double

points, and National events, like Cascade, Nationals, and AVC get triple

points.

After I total all the points we then rank the riders in each category. With

300 being the first place rider and -1 for each rider in that category. We

do this because one year one rider got over 1000 points in one category and

that was not what the over all award is for. BEST ALL ROUND Rider.

After the ranking then the top 4 sets of ranking points are added together

to give the overall set of points with 1200 being a perfect score. We award

trophies to the Sr Men, Sr Women, Jr Men, Jr Women, Masters Men and Master

Women overall and the top rider in each of the age graded categories.

Hope this explanation helps. Every year we ask of suggestions to modify

this process so if you have one let us know.

Subject: BAR points?

Candi,

Can you give me, or post to the list, a quick, one

paragraph description of how BAR points are tabulated?

I'm assuming some of it is purely participation but

most of it has got to be placings? Does PIR count

towards the total?

Thanks for all your work, it's really appreciated!

Ken Finch
