Thanks for the heads up about the ethernet cable, Mike.
I have not noticed any FinishLynx power cable issues after the soldering
had been done (than you, Kevin).

If I'm not mistaken, pir computer tower uses a regular VGA cable to connect
the monitor.

Camera worked fine last Tuesday but Kevin had to repair the cable that
screws into the back of the camera. It had been damaged previous to that
evening.

On a different note- the desktop computer at PIR desperately needs a new
monitor cable. It barely works.

I found the problem. The catch that the clip engages on the Ethernet port
on the camera has failed. When you push the plug-in is no click so that the
cable is easily disengaged. It is pretty clearly what caused the problem.
This could look like a cable problem has reinserting any cable, even the
same one, might cause it to start working. For those running the camera if
there is ever any concern about the functional status of an Ethernet cable
there is a Ethernet cable tester in the camera box. I would encourage you
to use that tester prior to switching the cable are making the assumption
that the cable is nonfunctional. For what it's worth I've tested the cables
that are in the camera box and they are fine.

I will work with FinishLynx to figure out how we are going to get the port
repaired. Until we can get it repaired we will probably have to secure the
Ethernet cable to the camera with tape.

I have the newer FinishLynx camera at my house as evidently at least the
last couple of days there has been difficulty with getting the computers
to recognize the camera. The first thing that I've noticed is that somehow
the ground plug from the three prong power plug has been removed.
Hopefully this was done accidentally because removing that solely to be
able to plug the cord into a two prong outlet would be totally
unacceptable. Even if this was done accidentally it is something that we
should of been made aware of as soon as possible. The problem with the
missing crown plug is that then there is no wider plug so that there is no
control over the polarity. If this plug was placed into an outlet with the
polarity reversed it could cause damage to the camera.

If you are one of the people that had problems with connection with the
computer I would like to hear from you so that I can try and figure out
where the problem was.
