Briefly, here are my accomplishments locally since 1989 and during my time

as USCF Western trustee since 1997:



As Club presidents:

1989/90 Team Novara - Utah

1993/94 Team Flower Children - Utah

1997- Current EDC Cycling Club



1993/94 - Bicycle Racing Association of Utah



Promoter:



Founded and promoted the Wednesday Criterium series from '93-'95 in Utah

at the Public safety course (DMV)



Promoted the 1993 and 1994 Utah State Criterium Championships at the Public

Safety course.



Promoted Utah's only Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic races at the Herriman

course in '97 an '98.



Promoted five races out of 16 total in Utah in 1998 which included the East

Canyon road race, EDC LAJORS Circuit race, Mt Nebo Hill Climb, Elberta Road

Race, and the Neways Stage Race,



Co founded and promoted with Sports-AM the East Canyon road race in 1993-2000.



Founded and promoted the Leaf Raker ride from 1993 through 1998.



Teams:

Formed one of the nations first U-23 teams in 1998.



At the USCF:



Wrote Legislation to:



Keep the one day license fee from being raised from $5 to $8 in 1998

To form relationship with the League of American Bicyclist.

To form relationship with Bikes Belong.

Create championships for U23.

Condemned removal of membership voting rights.



At USAC:

USAC BOD since October 1998.

Member of Finance committee Since May 1999: I'm on a mission to prove how

important membership is the success of bicycle racing in the United States.

We're getting there.

Supported creation of USAC's Development Foundation



Steve Johnson is the now the Executive Director of the USA Cycling

Development Foundation. For those that don't remember Old Man and his

racing exploits, if I remember correctly, 13 national masters titles and 2

world masters championships. In my opinion, the new Foundation is the most

important and significant strategic move USA Cycling has ever made. It puts

some very smart and successful people on the USAC Board without the baggage

that comes from being too close to the sport. I guarantee that there will

be accountability like never before.



Beyond the legislation, I've been hammering on issues across the board,

from membership to athlete selection, from Financial evaluation of USA

Cycling to establishing performance markers for Regional Representatives.



I don't usually go out of my way to produce a laundry list, but for those

that are new to racing or have short memories, I think it's important to

check the facts before you make any decision especially in regards to your

representation. I'm the first to admit that I've had lots of help. Thanks

to all.



For those in neighboring Western States, I know of and monitor the efforts

of OBRA, NCNCA, ACA AKA BRAC, I'm on all of the email lists. Things are

changing. Some, everyone will like, others people will disagree with. My

view is to keep cycling inexpensive in order to maximize participation. I'm

hopeful that USAC can deliver more value to local level.



Doesn't matter what state or what region, I think its pretty easy to forget

what a few have passionately done for the sport. I think OBRA has a model

we can all learn form. In Utah our hats should be off to Tom Bonacci who

ran BRAU and the International Criterium series, Del Brown who still

promotes St. George, Dave Burns and Jeff Keller who founded Logan to

Jackson, Cindy Yorgason, Gary and Louise Bywater officiating tirelessly.

Dan Mayhew, Rob Macleod and now Chirs Quann former and current chair the

Mayor's bicycle Advisory committee bike lanes, bike racks, and dealing with

Departments of Transportation, validate cycling, competitive or otherwise,

to the public and community leaders. The Bonneville Bicycle Club - (touring

is important to racing. Touring riders are great volunteers to have when

promoting races.) Club presidents and small event promoters current and

past like Alex Lee, Brent Farr, Jeff Stenquist, Darrell Davis, Christian

Johnson, Tom Cook, Barry Markarowicz, Scott Miles and Angela Snyder. Matt

Orhan, Utah's cross promoter, Ed Chauner who founded the Intermountain cup.

Less I forget the support of some of Utah's supportive bike shops like

Binghams, Wild Rose, Fischers, Canyon, Jans, Gourmet, Spin, Active Sports,

and Guthries.



Cycling Utah's Dave Ward, Bob Truelson. and Dave Iltis.



Still now there are new efforts by Dirk Cowley and the great success of the

Utah Cycling Association. and the efforts of JR and Jill smith driving the

Wasatch Women's Cyclist. And the many others I haven't mentioned.



Many probably don't know that Utah now has three representatives at USA

Cycling. Dave Iltis besides myself is a USCF Western Trustee, and Theresa

Eggertsen is the NORBA athlete representative.



Anyway,



You may have person differences with me or any of the above, that would be

too bad, I think we ought to be grateful to everyone that has contributed

to the bicycle community. It's the only one we have.
