Yet another significant action from the empire that OBRA is a critical part of our sport's future. ,,,,,"Hmmmm, the force is strong in this one...."

Subject: [OBRA Chat] OBRA and USA Cycling together again....
SOooo, the important part of this is for those who race out of state, so they can race at the category level that is on their OBRA card, not starting as a category 5 rider. i.e. Hart-gate, last year.
HOWEVER, those folks who are planning to race nationals, cross nationals, will need to chase call up points/position/ranking as well as receiving the reciprocity upgrade. Best start thinking about that now; don't wait until it's too late and be surprised as to why you are starting in the last spot at championships.
Here's the USAC ranking points explained -
http://www.wsbaracing.org/uploads/2/9/5/7/2957897/usac_ranking_points_explained_final.pdf
This year cross champs are in Hartford CN. However, it's 2018 when National Championships coming to Reno NV, which is a short drive from Oregon, is key. Having a 1-year head start on reciprocity to work out the kinks is a pretty good deal.

So, likely random and targeted (e.g. Cat 1/Cat 2 Road) drug testing at OBRA races as well?
Not that there's anything wrong with that. Just curious.

Just makes our unofficial arrangement official. No on the CX points for
callups.
I have discussed dual sanctioning with Derek but haven't heard back. We
did that a number of years back with races like Cascade, Hood and USGP.

They have been 'recognizing' them, but you still had to go through and request a formal upgrade to your proper category by providing a race resume. That's what I heard from a few folks that went through the process last year, at least. I'm guessing a formal reciprocity arrangement will make it much easier. There's still the issue of call-up points, etc, but it's better than nothing?
I do wonder how this will help the southern WA folks that race with OBRA. Looking at the Harts in particular, who had to jump through a bunch of hoops with WSBA since they happen to live on the wrong side of the river.

I guess we'll need to ask Kevin Blair if USAC will now need to deal with CRUSADA

There has not been an official agreement in 20+ years. They have done it hit and miss. There are other things that go into it also. Say hello to USADA.....

I don't get it. USAC has been recognizing road and CX upgrade points all
along. So unless they are now administrating points to cross placings I
don't see the relevance to this. Will they begin recognizing and applying
points to CX, because that would be HUGE.
