It takes a village OBRA

In defence to quite a few posts that I personally feel to be pointless. I choose the easiest solution possible. I just hit delete and move on with my life.  Because there might be someone else out there that sees value in the posting. And part of OBRA is helping others.
And to conclude my pointless response, I'll be out at the track all day finishing up the washing, so if anyone wants to bring me a mocha around 2, that would be awesome.

and I might add that the person who does not want to read about people out
riding / promoting racing could just delete the message and move on with his
or her life............the SIS post did not hurt anyone. I am not
interested in doing the ride, but awareness about it is very positive.

One could argue that rides such as this could also replace going to races with entry fees, more structure, etc. and lead to decreased race participation. It will be interesting to see if the effect either direction is large enough to note.

Dear Some Other Guy- Andrew Yeoman,

Sincerely apologize for the aspects of my post(s) which you feel are "nonsense". If you haven't read the entirety of my posts about the point of the Sauvie Shootout, please know that it is to help the health of cycling in Oregon and racing within OBRA. I'm not simply trying to abuse the list serve to annoy you and make friends to keep me company each Sunday, I'm working with multiple OBRA race promoters and OBRA leadership to try and create a better sense of cycling community, a place that race-curious folks can get pack experience and confidence to start becoming bonafide promoter-supporting OBRA-racing members. I'm also trying to foster mentorship within the group for greater participation and safer OBRA races.

I'm frankly surprised that a single post each week to the OBRA Chat page promoting a race preparation group ride is this aggravating for you considering the high number of FS and OT posts.

OBRA Chat
This is the mailing list for the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association. Our mission is to foster and grow the sport of bicycle racing in Oregon - road, track, mountain bike and cyclocross. This list is to be used to post for-sale bicycle related items and to spark discussions about the sport.

OBRA Race
List for race flyers, announcements, results, no chat.

Seems pretty clear to me that this was posted on the appropriate message board.
Also, I think the purpose of this post was to increase rider safety and respect for fellow cyclists, which last I checked, OBRA is pretty big on.

Maybe you are both somewhat correct.
I have no issue personally and am happy to hear about cycling and or
racing related events and banter on this list.
Though I think the promoter of SIS in particular could dial it back a
bit.
I want to know about it generally, but maybe not last weeks recap.

I confess ignorance when dealing with OBRA lists. Is there a list that
is more socially focused?
If not, might we create one? That way, this list could be more directly
race driven for those who only want that, while the other could be a
more social/cycling community thing. Not trying to make it complicated,
but if this list is supposed to be race only(?), then lets give people a
place to put whatever they're not supposed to be putting here ;-P.

Yes, no, maybe?

I think this a great place to promote group rides.
I guess that makes me a 1%er

The OBRA list goes out to hundreds of members and let me assure you, at least a majority, and probably 99% of us do not want to hear about how your group ride went last week. I'm glad you were able to use this forum to find some people to ride with but please take this off list and don't clog our inboxes with this nonsense.

We had a fantastic group for The Sauvie Shootout last Sunday and a really good time out there. There was also some unnecessary crossing of the double yellow line and we had a triathlete really upset with how close they felt we passed. The Sauvie Shootout is not just a lot of fun, it's also an opportunity to learn and teach pack riding and racing skills- making OBRA races even more fun AND safer. If you're an experienced racer, PLEASE use this as an opportunity to mentor the CAT 6 folks out there that have Zwifted their way into fitness without having been taught how to ride in a group. Please help ensure the longevity of The Sauvie Shootout by calling out those that are blatantly breaking OBRA race rules. I don't want to be a nag, but I really don't want to see law enforcement nor angry Island Residents threaten the health of the Sauvie Shootout.

Let's make sure we keep a neutral tempo pace on Hwy 30. When we drop off the bridge onto the Island- it's on. At this point, let's split into A and B groups (hopefully C as the ride grows).
