Franz Bakery Criterium
Saturday, August 5th, 2017

This is the eighth year for this race at this location and we are excited
to bring criterium racing to Portland's Central Eastside. While the Franz
Bakery is very supportive of this event, please keep in mind that this area
is a major production facility for them and they are adjusting their
schedule and truck routes to accommodate this special event. Please be
courteous to all bakery employees and cooperate when asked. We look forward
to hosting this event for several years in the future.

A big shout out to Team Oregon and Erica Menze for stepping up to help
coordinate volunteers and assist with event logistics.

*Sponsors*

Thank you to our sponsors: Franz Bakery, Burnside Brewing, Cider Riot, TFK
Wheels, Olympia Beers, Rolf and Westend Bikes. Without the support of these

*Weather*

The weather forecast calls for highs in the 90s. Great weather for crit
racing! Please be
conscious of the heat and hydrate and plan accordingly.

*Prizes*

We have over $1,500 in prizes available. Cash prizes for the senior men and
women will go to the top three. The final prize list will be based on
pre-registration. Prizes can be picked up at the announcers stand.

Podiums for the top 3 will be across from registration when results are
posted.

*Course Report*

The course is 1.13km long, features 8-corners and 40’ of vertical climbing.
NE 11th St. between Corners 1 and 2 is rough with a few significant
potholes which will be marked. Corners 3, 4 and 5 form a quick “S” type
turn that sweeps downhill. The roads are wide and the pavement is fair.
After corner 5, the descent is shallow before corner 6 where the course
changes to a shallow climb. We turn at NE 8th instead of NE 9th. At corner
7, the road goes upward in a modest hill toward corner 8 and the finish
straight. The finish line will be a two block dash from corner 8.

There are few rough spots on the road and some areas that will be marked.

There are questionable spots on NE 11th between Flanders and Glisan.
The pavement is cracked in several locations, but certainly rideable. In
corner one, the race course will narrow to accommodate working vehicles
parked by New Systems Laundry on NE 11th.

*Post Race Food*

Burnside Brewery and Cider Riot are both located within 1-block of the
course. They are supporters of the event and we recommend you try their
food and/or drink!
