Thank you racers!

Hello, everyone!

Now that the dust has settled over the PIR motocross track, I like to take a moment to thank everyone who came out during the past 8 weeks, to race, to volunteer, and to cheer at the Portland Short Track Series.

This season, we saw a surge in attendance (last Monday we counted 420 racers plus another 50 kids racers) and every week we welcomed a lot of new folks who had never raced short track - or any bike race - before!
It was also great to see some familiar faces out there of folks who raced the series in the early years and who came out of retirement this year to enjoy the weekly races with fresh passion. Finally, it was fantastic to see so many families with kids and junior riders out there and we definitely hope to see you all back next year!

Results of Monday's races (including the results of the kids races and the Ultra Team Relay) and the final series standings with all podium finishers have been posted.

Also check out the final batch of photos shot by our series photographer Victor Duong, including some great team relay action and team group shots:

A huge shout to Victor for capturing the fun each week and posting all these fantastic shots for everyone to enjoy and to share!

I further like to thank our generous sponsors, all of them local companies with a big heart for local bike racing:
- Our series title sponsor Hopworks Urban Brewery, who contributed generously with beer prizes, and who came out to sample their seasonal favorites at the race. And their "Monday night Short Track First Beer Special" at both the HUB Bike Bar on N Williams and their new pub in Vancouver was - as always - much appreciated!
- Our bike shop sponsor Bike Gallery, who was out there each week to provide free mechanical support to our racers.
- Our other gold sponsors Cyclepath, Breadwinner, Islabikes, Yakima, and Lumberyard.
- Dave Killer's Bread, for their weekly support of our free PB&J food station and the much-enjoyed bread prizes.
- Our series product sponsors Nossa Familia Coffee, Portland Design Works, Showers Pass, Chris King, and Blaq Designs, who contributed generously with some fantastic prizes.
Please support our sponsors whenever you have a chance!

Finally, huge props to the more than 30 volunteers and OBRA officials who helped make the magic happen every week. From the people at the registration desk, to the lap counters and course marshals, to our first aid providers, to Luciano "the voice of short track", to the organizers of our free kiddie races and clinics, to the folks who helped set up and tear down the course each week and staff the food station: they all did an awesome job. Without the help of this amazing group of people, we wouldn't be able to pull it off!

Now, it's time for a break and get ready for cross... Portland Racing will be back for one more race this season (the 10th edition of the Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic on Sunday Nov 19 at Kruger's Farm on beautiful Sauvie Island --- more details forthcoming) and we hope you'll be able to join us for that one as well!

Cheers!
~Kris
