That is a great idea Ken.
I never want to hear that OBRA doesn't have enough funds to do a race. With
this kind of attitude, there will wheels for all and money left over to make
racing even better.
Racers should still plan on putting wheels. There is no such thing as too
many wheels for a field.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] ATTENTION: Challenge to All teams in Top 10 OBRA Team
Bar standings
Date: Mon, 8 Mar 2004 19:35:40 -0800
Obra has gone out and set up the spare wheel program for all of our races.
If you are one of the top 10 in the OBRA Team
Bar standings, odds have it you have already used some these wheels in
races. If you haven't, you probalby will. I am
donating $200 in behalf of the Fred Meyer Cycling Team to get this wheel
program paid for. I am challenging the other
top teams in OBRA to do the same thing. If all 10 teams step up and get
money to OBRA this should pay for more than
half of the program. Other individual riders can do their part to make up
the rest. Let's not leave the responsibility to OBRA
to collect the money for this program. Teams can find the money in their
budgets or pass the hat among their own riders.
OBRA has enough on their plate to have to go out and worry about getting
reimbursed for these wheels. If they end up with
more money than the program needs, then they have a rainy day fund for more
wheels, tires, etc. In addition, if you are
one of the teams riding 10 speed, then maybe you need to think about
donating 10 speed wheels to the program instead of
asking OBRA to put these wheels in too. I hope that all the teams will
rise
up to this challenge and put this issue to rest
by donating your $200. Thanks for listening.
