It is not always the best answer but my default reaction is to bring levity
to a scenario that appears obviously silly (to me).

Perhaps his typos and reference to volume of money obscured a real issue.

In which case, it would seem I diminished his poor experience, that said
I'd generally agree that the better path to resolution was to get on the
horn with the shop and talk it out.
