Any Middle/High School Cyclist Parents?

The Corvallis Composite Team (as in, kids from several middle and high schools in town) has been getting organized as well. Parents in the Corvallis area who want to know more can contact Tiffany Bailey at Tiffany.Bailey@me.com or contact her through the Corvallis Composite MTB Facebook page. The OR races take place in early fall and so don't conflict with the OBRA MTB events which typically are in spring.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Any Middle/High School Cyclist Parents?

Hey OBRA Land,

The pieces have come together and the Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League (http://www.oregonmtb.org/) is launching! If you have a middle or high school student who is interested in cycling and live in or around the Tualatin Valley area (loosely defined with room for all) you will not want to miss participation. Activities will be centered around Tualatin High School with events taking place throughout the Portland metro area and beyond.

All curios middle or high school students (and their families) are invited to attend a general information meeting taking place at Tualatin High School on Tuesday, 6:30pm in the Lecture Hall. Please park in the North parking lot (side without the swimming pool) and enter the quad doors closest to flag pole. The Lecture Hall will be the first room on your right as you enter. Hopefully, I will have signs posted with directions to the right place, but construction work is taking place at the school and it is difficult to find materials that are normally handy to do so. If the Tualatin Valley area is inconvenient for you there are other teams forming throughout Oregon. Please refer to the Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League website to find one in an area that works for you.

There is no need to bring anything except your interest at this time, but know that it is important to attend as there are requirements for participating in the league (i.e. safe mountain bike, registering with NICA Pit Zone) and momentum will be gaining quickly...the league's first MTB challenge/race will take place in early September! If you are an adult with no children, but believe in growing the body, mind and character of youth by way of coaching them on bicycles, you are also welcome to attend and find out how become involved...this is NICA's fist year in Oregon and we can use all the enthusiasm and help we can get!

If you have any questions prior to Tuesday do not hesitate to contact me offline by email, and I would love it if you might reply to offline to my email letting me know you are planning to attend. I look forward to seeing old friends and meeting new.

Ride on...
