Hello, everyone!

It's hard to believe, but this Monday we are already wrapping up the 2018 Portland Short Track Series, after 8 weeks of some very fun and exciting races.
Like in years past, we plan to go out with a bang at our Series Grand Finale and I hope you will be able to join us on the infield of PIR to race, spectate, and otherwise come socialize with fellow OBRA racers!

Here are a couple updates ahead of Monday's final night of short track fun:

2) Still time to pre-register online for Monday's races!

Our last night of the series always enjoys high attendance and this year won't be an exception. To save time and money on Monday - and to make things a little easier for our registration and scoring crew - we strongly recommend for any new riders to pre-register online (by Sunday 5pm).
online registration link: https://portlandracing.com/register
Note: If you miss the online registration deadline, you can still pay at the race on Monday, from 4:30pm until 15' before the start of each race heat. And, yes, we do accept credit cards at the races.

3) Get ready for the 2018 "Ultra Short Track" Team Relay Race...

Like in years past, we will wrap up the series with an all-for-fun Ultra Short Track Team Relay Race on the motocross track, right after we're done with the regular races. So far, we have already 22 teams of 10 racers signed up who each will get to race one lap for team pride & glory, and a ton of laughs. Since we will only use the motocross track, the laps will be ultra-short, ultra-fast and ultra-fun to race and/or watch!

The relay is a complete blast to race and/or watch (check out Victor's photos of last year's edition and the year before) and something you don't want to miss out on! And, yes, we still have room for 2 more teams. If you still like to round up some friends and submit your very own relay team, shoot me an email asap!

4) ... and our Series Awards & Raffle!

In good tradition, we will close the night and wrap up the series with unique awards for the overall top-3 podium finishers in each category and a raffle of some great prizes generously donated by our series sponsors.

---

5) One last night of FREE kids races, FREE short track clinics, FREE PB&J sandwiches... and FREE Hopworks organic ales & Nossa Familia iced coffee!

Like previous weeks, we will host our free kids races under the trees (starting at 5:55pm) and we'll finish the kids' series with free ice-cooled lemonade and an even cooler Islabike kids bike, which will be raffled off among all kids who raced the series (and, yes, you have to be present to win)!
Elaine Bothe and Andrew Coe of Wenzel Coaching will host one last night of our free short track clinics (from 5 to 6pm) and our food station will be serving free Dave Killer's Bread PB&J sandwiches.
To make the party complete, our title sponsor Hopworks Urban Brewery will come out again to sample their most popular organic summer ales (to anyone over 21) and perennial series sponsor Nossa Familia Coffee will make an encore on Monday with FREE iced coffee and iced mochas!
Note: The PIR concession stand will be open again this Monday and serve HUB beer, soda, burgers, hot dogs, and other yummy goodies. Please respect the PIR policy and do NOT bring any alcoholic beverages from outside the venue.

---

6) Safety first!

With likely larger-than-usual race fields on Monday and a lot of new riders (of all ages and skill levels), we like to ask everyone to make an extra effort to race safely and courteously. Finally, if you come by car, make sure not to leave any valuables visible in your car, or bikes unlocked on your car rack.

---

That's it... I hope you all get to enjoy another great summer weekend and we are looking forward to seeing you at PIR on Monday for our final night of Short Track bliss. Round up your friends & team mates, bring your families, let's throw a party!

Cheers,
~Kris

PS: Our series photographer Victor Duong will be on hand this Monday to take team shots at the finish area on the motocross track right before and right after the relay race. So, if you are racing for one of our many amazing OBRA teams, make sure to round up your team mates and get in front of Victor's camera. We'd love all of you to be in the picture at our final night!
