Yes. Still other races taking place, but stuff does overlap.
I have stated before what I feel about racing cross in 90 degrees F. (no!!!). But the schedule is normally pretty filled with races as we move through Sep. – Nov. I hope the promoters doing the earlier races get good support as they would just get grief for scheduling their race on the day when another one was easily within same territory. The schedule is worked out by the promoters during meeting (s) they have so the people trying to put on races that are not already well established have slim picking for dates. We go through this conversation each season, (too early…or even too late (Dec. / Jan races that do not draw participation). People who show up to race determine if they return to the calendar the next season (along with other stuff that comes up we may no be privy to). I love the races we have, but also cherish brave folks putting on a race when up against the establishment. Diversity and choice are good for us racers. If we lose that we get what just a few decide is “best” or “convenient for someone” to ride. Sooooooooooooooooooooooo…ride the ones you want and enjoy.

As much as I do enjoy cross, this seems too early to be starting. We still have a month of mountain, crit, road, and track racing left!

First Weekday Cross race August 15 Keiser Rapids. First Weekend race September 1 GP Carl Decker. We are off riding and running. Yes! We are returning to the pain-fest of Rainer High School on the Cross Crusade Tour. Good call there. There is no Crusade conflict with the Luscher Farm race (great course) and I am hopeful the Corvallis Cross race will appear on the calendar. I mean come on. It takes hardly any effort to put on a race! Right? If it takes place I highly recommend it. Bend, Eugene and South state are covered with races, so pretty much anyone who wants to give it a go can race. Ride hard. Take lots of chances but most of all have fun! A good number of you are building and maintaining great form for the season. I hope all the folks who go to regional and nationals have great results and the rest of us home bodies do the same here.
Thanks to OBRA, Promoters, Sponsors, Volunteers and Venues to for allowing us to do what we love. Each one plays a key part.
