Try Chrome Bags messenger bags as the shoulder strap

and complete bag are much more stable and comfortable

than Timbuk2.

I've used both and while a messenger bag can be stabilized somewhat by

anchoring (sewing) the waist strap to the shoulder strap it still isn't

as solid as a backpack. Just make sure you get a backpack that's

waterproof (most messenger bags already are).
