Randy Word
First of all, many thanks for all the kind words and support. I'm out of the hospital and back at home. I'm not able to sleep in a bed yet (only a recliner), but I have been able to do some very gentle short spins on an indoor trainer in the last few days. The mass of rib fractures are just a matter of time to heal, but I'm also finally seeing the huge hematoma on my hip, groin, and lower back starting to go down in size slightly. The swelling is still bad enough that I can't get any of my regular clothes on (only loose shorts and sweats), but at least I can walk a short ways and I'm really happy to see progress. Overall on the mend and very thankful for all my friends and family!
Second of all, did any one get the crash on video? I would be interested to see how I managed to get hurt so bad. I've been racing off & on since 1985 and I've never experienced anything like this, even back in the day when I was a Cat 2 and doing fifty races or more in a year. I was lucky to avoid most crashes and mostly only get road rash in the few that I was in. This one was much different.
Thank you!
