Subject: [OBRA Chat] Blind Date: the Tin Anniversary...

It's true daters, we've been together ten sweet years.
We've had our ups and downs, but for us the flame burns just as bright as it did a short decade ago... sometimes, even brighter.

UPDATES FOR THE 2018 Blind Date at the DAIRY!

*Castelli Cycling will once again providing the series with perhaps the most sought after accolade in cycling, the Blind Date Series Leader jersey! Season pass holders will also receive a Castelli/Blind date cap, available somewhere around the end of September. Yes, we always forget that Italy takes August off when we get caps. Visit our site on the inter-net http://crossseries.com/ for a preview of the new design. Hint: it's fresh.

*Sellwood Cycle Repair has stepped in to be our new shop sponsor! After many years of special nights together our friends at 21st ave have moved on. While assuring us "it's not you, it's me", we were hard on the rebound and rekindled an old flame. Sellwood does so much for racing and is spread thin, but with deep roots in local cyclocross and a lot of personal history it was too good a match to pass up. Look forward to neutral support and blowing kisses from the Sellwood tent.

*Islabikes will be hosting our free Kids Cross showdown at 5pm each night, so bring the family!

*Stumptown Coffee will be providing a few cases of COLD BREW to make sure you jump up and down while in the registration line, and bags of freshly roasted coffee beans for the prize list.

*Locally built PREME WHEELS has stepped up to cover the CASH payout for the podium of our 1/2 women's race, and will offer free wheel truing and dating advice at their tent.

*Speedvagen racing machines will be sponsoring a holeshot prize with some fresh custom gear. No guts no glory!

*Sage Titanium Cycles will have demo bikes to touch all over (and over, and again), as well as various swag and prizes.

*Carlos Tacos will be out to check out our scene with his delicious tacos and burritos, If we show the man enough support he'll keep swinging by. Perhaps you've enjoyed his hearty and authentic meals at the Cyclocross Crusade, or visited his trucks serving the western suburbs. He's a nice dude and makes killer food so bring a few bucks and don't leave hungry!

*Free Clinic! Free race! Team Fast, Fun, Nice and Swift racing are partnering at Blind Date races 1 and 2 to help beginners with all the dating basics. Go through the motions and we'll set you up with a free entry to the one lap STAMPEDE race to try out your new moves! Keep an eye on the OBRA chat and our various media outlets for updates, they will meet up near the registration booth (just left of the booth if you entered through the parking lot) at 5pm and chaperone you the the start of the STAMPEDE at 5:50.

Pre-registration saves everyone time and $$, so don't forget to step into the future and register online. Give us a little extra time on race 1 to get you your bib number and such. Mingle! Have a coffee! Ask a new friend to pin you!

If you get a chance to go for a pedal toodle, swing by the dairy and practice the new course feature, "the UP". You'll get passed on it if you don't have it figured out before lap one. Big props to Jake Rosenfeld construction for the excavator work. "The Fry Guy" has been the man behind the curtain on seriously every feature and project of Blind Date, the race wouldn't be the same without the man.

Hornets! Oh, hornets. We set traps. We scour the course wielding weaponry. I once watched Jim C. throw himself on a nest like a war hero to a landmine to protect a passing rider and pay dearly. We do our best to battle the insect world but truth be told they will out live us all. Please be wary of hornet activity and let us know if you see the buggers!

And as always, BE COOL. Alpenrose Dairy supports Oregon cycling and general family good times in many ways and expects nothing in return but general cool-ness. Be nice in the neighborhood. Don't litter. Don't be super loud, Don't poke around in areas other than the parking lot and our race course. Don't bring alcohol or drugs. If possible, leave pets at home. If you are accompanied by an animal friend leash them at ALL TIMES and CLEAN UP after them.

Finally, to our hosts Alpenrose Dairy, Candi and dedicated Officiating staff , the registration party posse feat. ringleader David Hart, the all star course crew, Luc SUPA EMCEE and best announcer ever, Jenny our internet ninja with the Fast/Fun/Nice squad, the Swift teardown team, forever young Ronnie, and everyone who ties up some course tape or kicks back a cone...

THANK YOU

-Tony and Joe

If you can play "careless whisper" on the saxophone for 50 consecutive minutes, please inquire within. We are going for quantity over quality here, and will consider other brass instruments if needed.
