A few years ago the breakaway cycling groups formed a cohesive group FIAC

to give USAC some competition. It consisted of OBRA, NCNCA (Northern

California/Nevada), ABR (Midwest states, more than I can remember), ACA

(formerly know as Bicycle Racing Assn of Colorado- now including New

Mexico, Arizona, Northern Texas and I think Utah). We meet every year, try

to have common rules and reciprocity amongst ourselves as we attempt to

take over the world.

Last year we started a NPS (National Points Series) of road events around

the country. We met last week and decided it was time to offer some

National Championships. Because we do not want to offer a 'lesser'

championship we decided to concentrate on some of the popular events that

USAC does not award Stars and Strips to. This year we will be offering:



National Hillclimb Championship- Bob Cook Memorial HC up Mt Evans in

Colorado

National Team Trime Trial - In Illinois

National Stage Race Championsip - ELKHORN CLASSIC in Oregon!!!!



Our first year we will only be offering our stars and strips jerseys to the

Senior Men and Senior Women with hopes to expand into the masters and

junior categories next year.



Bill Cass, a Team Oregon member, the director of training at Alpenrose,

designer of the USPS 2004 uniforms, employee at NIKE will be designing a

Stars and Stripe jersey for the winners and we will have medals for the top

3.
