A big round of applause to the organizers of this year's event. From my

perspective it appeared that things ran pretty smoothly. Yes, the start

sheet was posted on Saturday evening instead of earlier in the week but hey,

as I recall there was at least one posting to warn people that there were

some problems with computers. Has nobody else ever had a hard drive fail or

mother board go up in smoke at the most inopportune time???



From what I observed today it was a good event, people were running things

that have not had a first hand opportunity to put on an event in the past.

I suggest that anyone that was displeased with the way things went this week

to please step up and help out. Maybe they will have a little better idea

how and why things are done in this sport in the future.



If working a time trial is too easy for you then may suggest you come to the

track and score a points race or a Madison. Maybe just working the lap board

and ringing the bell would be enough of a challenge trying to figure out who

is up a lap and who needs the bell. Maybe just scoring a Cyclocross race is

more up your alley where one writes down the bib number of each rider on

each lap (in 30 to 45 degree temperatures for five hours) so that the race

can be reconstructed later for accurate scoring and posting prior to 10 pm

of the day of the race.



Indeed OBRA events have become a pretty smooth running operation. Many of

our newer members were not around during the "learning days" many years ago

where it was great to see results phoned into the newspaper only three to

five places deep. It would be a good idea to sit back and either be patient

or step forward and join in to help continue to have events run well in the

future.



Keep up the good work at the Estacada TT #2 and #3. The learning curve will

flatten out....trust me.
