I just bicycled from Portland to Timberline Lodge and back yesterday. The road is good from Sandy to Government camp. The shoulder is very manageable both going and coming. I ride armadillos and had no problem. If you're riding light weight tires, you might want to consider switching them out.



I do not know about the section from G-Camp to Hood River.
