Richard, I don't want to be a whiner, but are you ever going to post the
results of the last Eugene Hill Climb on May 30? It's been almost a week
now.

Well put on the sun screen the sun is coming. Last week we battled wind

and rain this week 80+ degrees is in the forecast. This just might be

the first 80+ degree race of the season for most of us.

With only two more races to go the overall is up for grabs in all

catagories.

We also have some great raffle prizes to give away after next weeks

event. Remember though you must compete in 3 or more to be able to

purchase a raffle ticket.

See you at the races,

Calling all racers, looks like we will have the local news out doing a

story on Eugene/Oregon racing tomorrow night. It would be great to see a

really strong showing from all the cyclist out there.

KMTR is pretty excited about doing the story and would the oppurtunity

to talk to a wide variety of riders that have been making it out the

races.

See you on the bike,

Richard

Tonight starts the first of 5 hill climbs in Eugene. It is the same

course as last year at 3.2 miles.

Billy Truelove of Hutch's holds our course record at 10:57.

Please park behind the church if you drive out and pay attention to cars

on the road while warming up, they go pretty fast sometimes on this

road.

Registration starts at 5:45 and first rider off at 6:30. You can do a

series for $35 or each race for $8.

Time to Ride,

Richard

I will get the results posted shortly but wanted to say a big THANK YOU to

everyone that has made it out and supported the Eugene Time Trial and Eugene

Hill Climb Series.

My volunteers: John Nagy and Matt Denburg where there each week helping out

without concern for racing, which in turn allowed myself and the other

people helping to race if so desired. My Paul's Bicycle Way of Life Cycling

teammates, they helped each week and sacrificed precious warm-up time to

start, hold and line up people. Also my wife for helping me each night after

the race go through the paperwork, double check the results and staying up

with me until midnight-as well as put up with me being gone every Tuesday

night for 2 months straight.

My Sponsors: Clif Bar, Burley Bicycles, Renn, Profile Design, Track Town

Pizza, Jaini Crawford (Massages), Paul's Bicycle Way of Life, Wheelworks

Bike Shop, and Hutch's Bike shop.

The Staging locations: Coburg Middle School and the Lutheran Church.

All the participants: We averaged over 70 riders each week, everyone seemed

to have a great time in both the flat and uphill events. We brought in a

close to 50 new riders over the course of 8 weeks into the OBRA racing

scene.

Next on the agenda is The Twilight Criterium series starting Monday for

Beginners and Tuesday for everyone else. It is a great event to come out and

do or even to watch. Check out OBRA's website for more information.

A couple other events in the Eugene area to pay attention to that I am

promoting.

July 15th-18th, 2004: The Summer Ride Fest, a huge ride festival featuring

rides for every discipline. We have a 100k and 200k supported road ride

happening on the Aufderheide on Saturday and mountain bike rides taking

place Thursday through Sunday with a huge party happening Saturday night at

the Westfir Outpost. The Trek Demo fleet will be there showing off the bikes

that Lance is riding in the tour as well as mountain bikes. You are welcome

to take them for a real ride. Watch for more information coming in the next

couple weeks.

September 16th-19th, 2004: The Eugene Cycling Classic which takes place

during the Eugene Celebration. It will be a 2 day-3 stage race with a

Showcase Crit happening on Friday evening. The Showcase Crit will have $500

cash and $500 in primes and prizes, it will not count towards the stage

race. The Eugene Cycling Classic will have $3000 cash and be geared towards

an all-around cyclist. Watch for information to be posted soon.

Thanks again for making the racing in Eugene and Oregon some of the best

around.

Time again for this weeks suffering.

Parking, registration and start will all be from the Church for the rest of

the series. It is about 1/2 mile down McBeth from the Grange.

Please park around back of the church when you get there.

Registration will be open at 5:45, first racer off at 6:30 with 30 second

gaps between start.

While warming up please pay attention to traffic on McBeth. I had a few

complaints from local residents about people riding down the center of the

road and not moving when the car came up behind them.

Time To Ride,

Richard

Thanks for coming out last night, we had 72 starters and 72 finishers. Times

where in the 12 1/2-30 minute range. Conditions where pretty ideal with a

slight tail wind, partly cloudy skies, and temps in the mid 50's.

I have meetings most of the day but I will get results out ASAP, it will

probably be late this afternoon or first thing tomorrow morning at the

latest.

The one thing I can tell you is that the best time was 12:20.

Thanks to all the volunteers for making it out and helping this event

happen. They are the ones that make it happen each week.
