Regarding why there is not more interest from women for Tuesday PIR....
I think many do feel intimidated at first. Many of us start with the 3/4
group to get used to the close quarters and larger pack. I've yet to
actually jump up to the 1/2/3's. Frankly it's cuz I'm chicken, but I'm
slowly getting peer pressured into it. :) Also there are not very many cat
1/2/3 women in our area, and since PIR is usually training for most of us,
some just choose to opt out. I know my goal is to just hang on sometimes.
Guys- if you have female friends interested in racing on Tuesday, encourage
them to start with the 3/4 group, however Mondays are better for beginners I
think. Gals- just go for it. Most are supportive as long as, like someone
mentioned earlier, your skills closely match the group.

Just as a plug, there is the Monday night masters and women race series.
We had a record turnout of 26 women racers! Just a few years ago it was
good
if we got 10. Thanks to all the women in recruiting and mentoring.
Speaking of mentoring, we had great support from Mechele Knable and her
amazing Sorella Forte team. They supported the women's race by talking with
new women racers and made the event less intimidating for 1st time women
racers. It got great response.
Monthly women series points will score/prize Cat 1,2,3; Cat 4,5; 35+
separately. Results for each night based on open women.
We also provide a novice race (30+) that got great support on Monday too.
Thanks to Lakeside Bicycles/Fred Meyer Cycling Team for their mentoring and
support!
