I have received a request from one of the EMTs that I work with to publicize

a plea for help for a friend of his that was injured in a bike riding crash.

Evidently the rider suffered significant initial injuries and has had even

more significant medical complications. This has created a financial

hardship for him and his family. The details are below. Please forward

this to any individuals or groups that you feel may be appropriate.

NEWMAN REMAINS CRITICAL

On April 22, 2004 my long time friend Dale Newman had plans of riding 27

miles after working that day at Precisions Cast Parts. This type of

exercise was important to him for it kept him in excellent physical

condition. Dale was training for the STP (Seattle to Portland) ride. He was

excited, this would be his tenth time!



Riding was also instrumental in helping to reduce some of the

stress/worries that had become a daily part of his life. For the past two

and a half years He and His wife Pat's two family income had become one, as

Pat has struggled with long term health issues herself.



Unfortunately Dale wasn't able to finish his ride. While riding in the

bike lane near the Junction of Hwy 212 and US 26 he was surprised by a

truck tire in his path. Hitting this obstacle was unavoidable. He was

rushed to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. He has remained in critical

condition in ICU and continues to struggle with complications. Had Dale

not been physically fit and wearing a protective helmet he wouldn't be with

us today. His doctors indicate Dales recovery will be a long one.



The Newman's reside in Damascus with their 2 children and I'm seeking

community support for their living expenses. An account has been
