Hello Obra-ites,
My wife and kids came to watch the race at PIR last night. As they were
walking towards the stands, and just beginning to cross the road, a car
approached. Rather than yielding, this person honked their horn and blew
by. This was most likely a cat 5 person because they were leaving just
before 7:00, bike in tow.
My wife was a little miffed, and called this person a name under her breath.
My 5 year old daughter, who doesn't miss much, asked her:
"Mommy, why did you call that man a casserole?"
So, Mr. Casserole, please drive courteously when leaving PIR. A fairly good
rule of thumb:
- On bike: race.
- In car: no race.
Most folks that have been around for a while drive very cautiously after a
race. There are cyclists, fans, and yes even KIDS running around. I would
prefer mine did not get squished by Mr. Casserole or any of his peers.
So remember -- Go fast on the bike, slow in the car (until you're out of the
park).
Thank you in advance for slowing down and driving courteously.
Regards,
Erik Voldengen
