(PORTLAND, Ore.)   Want to see your favorite bike ride in print? River=

City

 Bicycles is looking for bike rides for Volume 2 of the highly successful

Rubber to the Road, a guidebook of best bicycle rides in the greater=

Portland

 metro area.   Road cyclists and off-road riders alike are encouraged to

submit their favorite rides to be included in the new guidebook, which is

scheduled for publication in Summer 2001.

     "Send us your favorite ride, and we=E2=80=99ll check it out," says=

Dave=20

 Guettler,

owner of River City Bicycles and publisher of the book. "If we include=

your

 ride, we=E2=80=99ll give you a $50 gift certificate to our shop=E2=80=94and=

a free=20

 copy of

the new book!"

     Since it=E2=80=99s first printing in 1997, the original Rubber to the=

Road has

 sold over 3,000 copies at $10 each and raised nearly $8,000 to help support

two local nonprofit organizations--the Bicycle Transportation Alliance and

the Community Cycling. These groups work to create safer communities for

bicyclists and to train youth about safe riding techniques and bicycle=

repair.

      The deadline for ride submissions is January 31, 2001. Rides can be=

=20

 road

or off-road, road rides can be up to 100 miles in length, and=

starting/ending

 points can be up to

one hour=E2=80=99s drive from Portland. Please include ride map (if any)=

and notes

 that describe starting & ending points, ride length, directions, road=

names,

 road conditions (shoulder, traffic volume, road surface), description of

hills/climbing, and points of interest such as food stores and cafes. =
