As Mike and I were leaving the event, we saw over 5 bottles in the ditch

along the finish stretch. and many times I have seen riders heave them a

long way - Just who is suppose to be picking these up? I know I am am a

caretaker personality, but I am not your mother!

I was likewise surprised to see someone in our 4/5 field throw away his

bottle on the back stretch at PIR a week ago Monday. Although I guess he

must have gone back later to pick it up (I hope) it is probably not a good

practice for people to be tossing water bottles. Think about the "cumulative

impact"- sooner or later some one's bottle will land at some one's wheel or

in some one's face. It isn't just a littering issue.

I was just sort of amused at the time that anyone would bother to get rid

of their bottle for a 4/5 finish at PIR but on reflection, if 25 or 30

riders were doing it it might not be amusing.
