Monday Night pics- Mike Murray OTF, Fred Meyer train

I snapped a whole bunch of pics Monday night but discarded most of them due

to bad focus.

I have a Pentax Optio 33 WR and the auto focus can take up to 1.5 seconds to

lock so it doesn't work great for action shots.

I try to pick a spot where I think I will trip the "shutter" and lock the

focus there in advance of the upcoming action but results have been mixed.

If any experts have advice other than a better camera, I'd like to hear it.

I attempted to get photographic proof of Mike Murray way off the front for a

long time but he was so well tucked in all I got was a sliver of green. The

thing to remember when drafting is that even "sitting on" helps overall

speed by spoiling parasitic drag of the lead rider. A NASCAR example would

be when 2 cars share wind resistance even the lead car saves gas by having

smoother air flow off the back and both cars go faster than one by itself.

Even though it's a bit out of focus, I kept the "Fred Meyer Train" pic.

Have we been watching our Petacchi tapes? 4/5s, watch & learn!
