<P> I have an 8 year old who's about the same dimensions you described...we couldn't spend $1,000 for a bike he'll grow out of in a year so after weeks of searching I found a bike at a thrift store for $10 (a 1980's 12 sp. Nishiki) that's in phenomenal shape. A little triflow and some cleaning and he loves it! He's already done a kids' race on it (and won) and is really fired up about riding it all the time.</P>
