Speaking for myself that was a hell of a spin going down the backside.

Greetings OBRA,

A few questions came up yesterday regarding the fixed

gear category at Mt Tabor Series.

Here's my attempt to answer some of them.

Q. Is the fixed gear race really free?

Y. Yes, if you enter a geared category the fixed gear

category is free. Otherwise it's $7.

Q. Can I use my track bike?

A. Your bike must have at least one working brake.

Q. Can I use a bike that has cowhorn handlebars?

A. Yes. You can use a bike affixed with drop

handlebars, a flat bar, cowhorn bars, riser bars,

moustache bars, or even upright-curved bars, such as

the Dove or Albatross. The only type of bar that

might give OBRA reason to be concerned would be aero

bars, which aren't permitted in mass start events.

Q. Is there a gear restriction?

A. No.

Q. What gear should I use?

A. That's up to you! The real question is: mash or

spin?

Q. Why only 3 laps?

A. In my humble opinion, three is plenty. Especially

for the gravity challenged. Besides, what do you

expect for a free race with a $50 nightly cash payout?

For the truly deranged, there is a longer fixed gear

race at the Rose Festival Mt Tabor race this coming

Saturday.

Q. Can I get a discount on the fixed gear race if I

bring 2 cans of food?

A. You can race the fixed gear category for a mere $5

if you bring 2 cans of food. It's still free if you

enter a geared race, you don't get another $2 off.

Q. Is it true that Candi is thinking about racing

this?

A. This is unknown but I'm more than happy to foster

the rumor. I am sure a little peer pressure will get

her out there. Let's all chant: Candi! Candi!

Candi! [repeat]
