Cross Crusade 2012
Through the Ages
Race #1 Alpenrose Dairy
The Cross Crusade is back and better than ever. I want to thank our newest
presenting sponsors; Rapha, Cannondale, Icebreaker, and Sage Cycles.
Alpenrose is a big race for those of you that haven't been paying attention.
It has been the cyclocross race with the highest attendance numbers of any
race in the world every year for the past decade. It is a great party and
we want all of you to come and have fun. We have a crew working feverishly
on the course all this week to make sure it will exceed any expectation you
might have.
We have a couple allstar biker racers who will be attending this Sunday.
Two time National Champion Ryan Trebon and fellow "twin tower" Barry Wicks
will both be givin 'r in the Elite Mens Race.
With all of this popularity comes a few requests from the race promoter.
First, we will have a staff of parking attendants on duty. Please do as
they direct you to. Second, if you park in the neighborhood across the
street from the dairy please be respectful and nice to the neighbors (i.e.
no pissing on the dahlias).
If your team wants set up a tent that is A ok. For this race though we
recommend you do that on Saturday any time after noon. You will also be
able to pre ride the course from noon on. Alpenrose Dairy is a non alcohol
venue. For this reason we will have six pack prizes for pick up at River
City Bicycles.
The Kiddie Cross Race at Alpenrose is also a huge deal. Since there are so
many racers we have made a completely seperated course for the little ones.
There won't be any issues with kids and juniors getting tangled with each
other.
Due to the extreme amount of grief I have been catching, there will not be
an Elite SS category. Next year I will do a better job of explaining it to
everyone beforehand. Instead, I have decided to offer an Elite Clydesdale
Category. Dope control will be present for this category and weight will be
strictly monitored by "One Ton Kevin Blair". He will be wielding a sledge
hammer for cheaters.
>From the entire Cross Crusade Crew, we want each and every one of you to
have the time of your life. Come out, bring the family, enjoy the food
carts, and race hard. See you Sunday. The Crusade is on!
