Interested in making bicycling even better in Portland? Join Andy
Clarke, Executive Director of the national League of American
Bicyclists to discuss how Portland can become a Platinum level Bicycle
Friendly Community. Andy manages the League's BFC program and has
visited more than half of the 38 communities designated to date. There
are currently four "gold" level communities, including Portland, but
none have yet received the platinum designation. The Bicycle
Transportation Alliance has invited Andy to talk with Portland cyclists
about what it takes to become a platinum biking city, and how far
Portland has to go!
Andy Clarke is the Executive Director of the League of American
Bicyclists, a national organization with 40,000 members and more than
500 affiliated clubs and advocacy groups. Andy has worked for a variety
of bicycle and pedestrian organizations in both the US and Europe
during his 20-year career in the field, and is the current president of
the America Bikes Coalition. An engaging speaker, he has trained
advocates across the country, helped local communities and states
develop bicycle plans and policies, and helped write Federal
transportation policy related to bicycling,

Alliance.
