It's a RACEYou probably saw the post of the Subway Express team looking for a mechanic during Cascade Cycling Classic. I signed on for the job.
I foolishly brought my bike thinking I could squeeze in a few rides between events but there was too much work to do. The bikes had not been properly serviced in months and I was up until 3:00AM Wednesday morning getting them into race worthy condition. I then spent 4 hours in the car with spare wheels and water. That first day we had the #1 spot in the caravan which was pretty cool for viewing the race. After that 1st stage, it was back to the garage to clean the bikes and get them ready for the next day.
Repeat as necessary but add crits and a time trial.
Saturday night I thought we had it made. The bikes were clean and ready for the final crit at 1:30 the next day so knowing I could sleep in, I relaxed at one of the host's house were there was a BBQ that couldn't be beat complete with a keg of Deshutes Cinder Cone Red. Then came the anouncment that the team wanted to recon the course and would roll out at 08:00 so the bikes had to be ready to go before that but at least I got to ride with the team out to the course and recon where to set up with spare wheels & bikes. That was all the riding I got last week.
