Overweight bike racers

You're eating waaaaaay to many twinkies if your sweat smells like them. I

know I get that same problem on some Sat and Sun morning rides, but it

smells more like PBR and Jager than twinkies.

Ron:

Thanks for the great advice. I think my problem is I have the process

backwards. I train so I can eat instead of eating so I can train.

I do love pastries!

On another topic, my helmet smells like Twinkies when I ride any ideas?

It's because your helmet and Twinkies are made from the same material.

Isn't the whole idea of riding bikes and racing to have fun 1st on formost.

Do not be ashamed of racing if you are overweight. Enjoy every ride.

If weight reduction is what you are looking for you might want study your training and nutrition program. For every pound lost you need a deficit of 3500 calories. This is a good goal for a week ( 1Lb per week), If you ride 3-5 days a week for 2-3 hours each session you can gain strength on the bike while dropping the LB's.

Just my dollars worth!

Bravo Dan!

I have been reluctant to say anything fearing discrimination, but I too am overweight.

I was told at the beginning of this season by many "elite racers" not to race this year because the sight of my butt in lycra was revolting; like chewed bubble gum in plastic wrap they said.

Although these comments have kept me from racing this year because of your courage Dan I say;

As a gravitationally challenged racer myself all I can say is ride and race.

It's amazing what motivation getting your butt handed to you a few times has

on weight reduction.
