What is interesting is that many people believe that it is the correct
direction as they equate bicycle riding with the rules for pedestrians.
In fat, one of our state senators on the transportation committee
informed us that she believed we were supposed to ride against traffic
in a meeting regarding a bicycle bill.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] rules of the road
Obra land. I live in Florence OR and road ride almost every day. As a
retirement community I'm seeing a number of elderly bike riders that
ride in the wrong bike lane for their direction of travel. I almost had
a collision with another rider who ran a stop sign while I was riding
thru an intersection. Does anyone know of a web site or where I can
get info on bike riding regulations while riding in traffic or using
the bike lanes? I intend to write a letter to the editor of our local
paper alerting these folks of their responsibilities as bicyclists with
respect to other traffic. I know riding the wrong way in a bike lane
can be very hazardous with cars making right turns from side streets
and would hate to see a fellow rider hurt due to ignorance of the rules.
