OPPORTUNITIES FOR CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

Washington County cyclists have the opportunity to help determine and

safeguard transportation and other resource planning, as a member of the

Washington County Planning Commission or the Washington County Land Use

Ordinance Advisory Commission.

The Planning Commission advises the Board of Commissioners on legislative

land use planning and development issues, i.e. issues involving elements of

the Washington County Comprehensive Plan, such as the Transportation Plan,

Community Development Code and the Rural/Natural Resources Plan. This is

accomplished through monthly meetings and public hearings. Application

deadline is December 19, 2000. For more information and an application,

contact the Washington County Planning Division, 503.846.3519,

lutp-@co.washington.or.us, 155 North First Avenue, Suite 350-14,

Hillsboro, OR 97124-3072.

The Land Use Ordinance Advisory Commission helps the County to provide

adequate notice of proposed changes to the County's land use regulations,

in order to encourage meaningful citizen participation. This is

accomplished through 4-6 meetings per year, between February and September.

The application deadline is December 5, 2000. For more information and an

application, contact the Washington County Planning Division, 503.846.3519,

lutp-@co.washington.or.us, 155 North First Avenue, Suite 350-14,

Hillsboro, OR 97124-3072.
