August 14 recap:
First, our Built for Speed Time Trial Series Winners!
Racing to a personal best (1:00:31) and the overall 'A' group series win, Peter Drake of Fred Meyer-Lakeside Bicycles is the proud owner of a new Cannondale TT frameset courtesy of Cannondale and our awesome local Corvallis sponsor, Cyclotopia! Be on the lookout for Peter on this gorgeous new bike...
Jens Heycke laid down another strong ride today to win the 'B' Group (1:02:41) as well as taking the overall 'B' group grandprize, a CSK frameset courtesy of SP Imports. Only one point separated Andrew Williams/Old Town Bicycles and Jens, with Dan Davis (Sunnyside Sports) within two. A very disappointed Jeff Layton caught a ride to the finish after flatting out at mile 12. He was racing with a hand on the CSK frameset as well as striving for a PR, and what may have been this month's winning 'B' time. Awesome job and major kudos to all of the 'B' group big dogs. Watching this battle unfold has been the highlight of the series for me.
Miranda Moon/Team Rubicon United Finance took top honors in the women's group. A Thule Speedway rack and one hour massage await this talented woman.
Landon Winter won the Fred Meyer Most Improved Rider Award (an amazing aerobar setup by cool sponsor DEDA). Landon improved his series efforts by over 10 minutes! The Deda set up was won by Peter Drake/Fred Meyer/Lakeside Bicycles in the May BFS TT. He then graciously donated them back to the overall prizelist for a new award, the Fred Meyer Most Improved Rider. Thank you Peter for being such a wonderful sportsman and race supporter! And congratulations to Landon on a great series.
As for todays results:
Congratulations to Doug Ollerenshaw/Jelly Belly for taking top honors this month in Group 'A' with a time of 0:56:55! This is nearly 3 minutes ahead of his time here a few months ago--making Doug the only rider to finish the Built For Speed course in less than an hour on TWO occasions. A hearty congratulations to Doug! (and good luck with your thesis!)
Mechele Knable (Sorella Forte) kicked some serious butt to day with a sizzling 1:13:06. Newcomer Jessica Cortell/Capitol Velo was a close second with 1:13:24.
Our sole tandem this month, Corbin/Huntair's Elisabeth Kirkegaarde and Mark Wilson had one of the best mixed tandem times of the year with a 1:06:45.
The Corvallis Great Harvest Bakery was onhand to award some yummy prizes for out great racers. A special congratulations to Chris Alling/Columbia River Velo for placing second in the 'A' group series. And a very special thanks to all of the Built For Speed TT volunteers!
I am in the process of posting today's results to the website. They will be available on this list serv and the OBRA site shortly. George and I will be back with another time trial series next March--we will have to change our name however. Look for updates on the OBRA website and please send us suggestions.
