12 Hours of Willamette Course

The 12 hour course does NOT include that monster climb

from the XC finals...I repeat it does NOT include that

climb(stop the rumors :)...the course is on the other

side of the ski resort.

The course will be the same as last year except for a

new start that will make the course a mile or two

longer(no more chunky rock hill start for each

lap)...I had hoped to use an old trail to avoid the

gravel road towards the end, but there are too many

tree's down and because of fire danger I can't clear

them.

Thanks

Randy

The start of the lap was modified last week to make the climb a bit easier.

It is a very fun course with nice singletrack.

 hey,

I have ridden it five times and technically it is real easy. The climbing

REALLY gets to you, 1250 feet per lap, at high elevation. When I rode it the

climb was single track and now it is a fire road, but I think it takes you

to the same spot so I think we are looking 10.5 to 11 miles per lap. Then

you have some fast double track(up and down), then the really fun and easy,

mostly downhill, single track. Then there is a mile or so of dirt road, a

little climb, and you are done. I think most people should worry about

riding 12 hours and forget about lap times, but it took me from 1 to 1.5

hours per lap. It's gonna be fun!

Has anyone pre-rode the 12 hour course that can give me a description.

I have some people interested in riding as a team but are concerned that

it may be beyond their level of comfort.

Basically a gut feel to how technical the trails are... Please respond

to me directly.

Thanks

Mark
