Who is the un-named "legitimate source"? Is there any reason why they
should not just be named?

To All Masters Riders:
The site of the 2001 Masters National Track Championships will be the
Marymoor Velodrome. This event will be hosted by the Marymoor Velodrome
Association with or without the sanction and assistance of the United
States
Cycling Federation. The USCF has indicated that there are no funds
available
to assist local host organizations in putting on Nationals.
Consequently, it
may be necessary for the local hosts to bear a significant financial
burden
in producing these events. The USCF has retained all entry fees in the
past,
yet imposes numerous costly requirements on the local host
organizations. If
the event was put on outside the sanction of the USCF entry fees paid
would
be applied to direct event expenses to provide the best event possible
for
the competitors. It would be an event where the riders' interests would
be
put first. The Marymoor organization has hosted very successful
Masters
Nationals in 1992 and 1998 and w! e stand ready to do so again in 2001,
either
with or without the involvment of the USCF.
The timing for this event would either be immediately before or after
the
Masters Road Nationals which are rumored to be the second week of
July. Your
feedback on the timing and whether you would be interested in attending
a
Nationals that possibly was not a USCFsanctioned event would be
appreciated.
We believe that a site for the Masters Track Nationals should be
determined
at the earliest date feasible out of consideration for the riders and
to
allow the local hosts to adequately prepare for the event. This is a
basic
consideration for the participants so that travel plans, vacation
requests,
etc. can be made and contributes to a more successful event.
If anyone has questions,I can be reached at 206 523 1822 x 102. We are
looking forward to having a great event in Seattle next summer. Also,
if you
could forward this letter to anyone you know who might be interested in
competing at Masters Nationals, this will help "get the word" out.
Thank You,
Stan Gregg
