Tuesday Night conspiracy?
Candi, please confirm, were there hotspots last night, with no points awarded? This was not our intention! Early hotspots are designed to simulate "real" racing, where a break-away has to decide between interupting momentum, in order to pick up points and prizes, or just ignore them, in order to try to stay away for the overall victory.
If any hot spot points were left out of the overall results, the results will be corrected. No conspiracy here. Really!

Cat 3/4s, why are you sprinting for hot spots? ?It's a trick! There are no
points and no prizes. ?You might have been able to stay away from the 1/2s
last night except you blow your pack apart sprinting for worthless "hot
spots". ?Unless you hear about a specific reward for "hot spot" laps, ignore
them and stay in tight formation for your best chance at success.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Race Report - Tuesday PIR Handicap
We had trouble with the timers last night, and as a result, I don't have
average lap speeds this week. ?On my own watch, I know the cat 1/2 group was
pretty close to 41:30, and the cat 3/4's were 43:45, which would give us
average speeds of 27.7 and 26.3 respectively for the two groups.
If anyone has more exact information, please send it to me and I'll post it.
It was an incredible night for racing. ?No wind, no clouds, perfect
temperature, and good daylight. ?Candi gave the cat 3/4 group a 2:15 head
start, and they gave up none of it the first two laps, in spite of a
blistering pace in the chase group. ?With six laps to go, the cat 1/2's had
only gained 30 seconds, and it looked like the cat 3/4's would stay away.
But the chase group was relentless, and the cat 3/4's finally caved in,
giving up more than a minute on laps six and seven.
We rode the last three laps as a group, with spirited attacks, and a gutsy
move by Bill Fasano with two laps to go to take the final hot spot as well
as the overall win.
Hope to see everyone next week. ?We'll be giving out a few more copies of
the Pegasus electronic calendar and training log, Runlog, as well as prizes
for the overall series winners. ?The overall winner will be receiving a $100
gift certificate from bicyclinghub.com. ?The final results are still very
much up in the air, so you definitely need to be present to win! ?I'll try
to post current standing later.
Thanks everyone for coming out!
Steven Mullen.
