The solution seems simple. Everyone in all categories rides single speeds.
They are simple, easy to maintain, cheaper, and lighter. It also would make
the people at the UCI happy as it would represent a true return to the past;
much more so that their halfhearted attempts to date. No more talk of
components, agonizing over whether to upgrade to 9 speed, 10 speed or soon
to arrive 14 speed. Everyone just rides and spins until their knees
explode. A solution to all the equipment problems of cycling.

Why don't we leave it to parents and the adults within
the teams that these juniors are riding for to teach the
juniors to ride bikes properly. It seems proper
instruction can prevent these injuries that I keep
hearing about. Again this seems to be a situation were
the organization is taking on the role of the parent.
It's the same as the educational system where many
parents blame the school for kids low scores when
usually the problem starts at home. Parents( and other
influential adults) should be properly preparing their
juniors so OBRA and USCF don't have to.
