I have a suggestion.
How about putting that number on the back of the bus as well. I realize it would be a significant cost. But, a number on the front of the bus will do us little to no good. Most of the instances occur on the side of the bus and then you see them drive away.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think anybody ever gets a look at the front of the bus.

All, note this advice regarding the bus # from a friend within Tri-met:
Yeah, George is absolutely right. We do take these things seriously. The
trick is getting the right number so we can identify the driver. You want
to get the number in the bottom right corner of the windshield. With that
number, we can figure out who had that bus at that time of day. Once the
driver is identified s/he can be contacted and spoken to. Hope that helps.
