Subject: [OBRA Chat] PRESS RELEASE - Thursday Oct. 7th 2004
It's happening!
No, not the imminent volcano eruption but rather a blowout of
spectacular bicycle racing at Alpenrose Dairy this weekend!
First off...yes. Daniele Pontoni will be here this Saturday Oct 9th for
the first race of the inaugural Crank Brothers U.S. Gran Prix of
Cyclocross Series.
Much can be and has been said about the former World Cyclocross
champion's return to U.S. shores but what of the great many other
talented 'crossers? What of the more important questions, the ones that
we ask of ourselves each morning? Will the latte drinking poseurs of
Puget Sound ever rise to the occasion? Will the Jonny "the Cat" Sundt
show his claws (weather permitting)? Will Todd "Cobra" Wells return a
star-crossed favor on the treacherous banking of Alpenrose or will Carl
"Rikki-Tikki-Tavi" Decker hold him at bay again? Will Adam Craig put the
kibosh on Kabush? Will Marc "the Hatchet' Gullickson prune back
Pontoni's flailing fists of fury?
See local heroes Barry Wicks, Erik Tonkin, Dale Knapp and Ryan Trebon
roll out the Kona Express Train to glory.
Watch as the twice celebrated World Champion Pontoni begins his campaign
to poach precious UCI points needed to secure selection for the World's
Championships (in case you have not heard yet, it is to be held in St.
Wendel Germany, January 29-30 2005...special rates available through the
generosity of Humberston Travel).
Find out what deviltry has been brewed by the Knights of the CycloCross
Crusade in the dank caverns beneath Castle Ross. In an unrelated aside,
sources close to Bradley Ross have reason to suspect that the Dungeon
Master of the Perpetual 5 o'Clock Shadow will in fact shave that
morning.
Meet the stars past, present and future at River City Bicycles this
Friday, October 8th from 4:30-6:30pm.
A gentle reminder that parking will be very limited and carpooling is
always a good idea.
