Hi David,

My Son and I are both running the Continential CrossCountry 1.5" tires,

and they seem to work pretty well. I picked them up at River City for

$20 each, which did not seem too bad.

Speaking of using a mountain bike for cross.

It's yours for free, rigid fork for a mountain bike. It's not

suspension corrected. I couldn't tell the difference. 1-1/8" steerer,

smaller frame size.

Another company that makes specific cyclocross racing tires in a 26"

size is Schwalbe. I currently run them on my MTN bike . They are 26 x

1.35 and are called CX PRO's. they weigh about 300 gms The are

identical to the 700 c CX PRO version in terms of tread pattern.

The Continentals you saw were probably the Cross Country model. When I use

my mtb for 'cross, I run Hutchinson Cross Comps in a 1.3. I've been pretty

happy with them.
