McGhie's (on W. Sahara) also owns Blue Diamond Bike Outpost in Blue
Diamond (at least they did a couple of years ago) , which is only
blocks from the trailhead in the Red Rock Canyon area.....if you want
to rent a mountain bike and do an MTB ride....they may have some road
bikes there also.
the other bike shop on the west side of Las Vegas on W. Charleston is
Pro Cyclery......definitely a higher-end shop than McGhie's, but don't
know if they do rentals or not.
After Interbike, McGhie's goes full on into ski/snowboard mode...so the
bike stuff is shoved to one end of the store...
pro cyclery's website is:
http://www.procyclery.com
it gets cold up in the Red Rocks area this time of year...(most folks
will ride the loop from W. Charleston out to Blue Diamond and back
through the Red Rock area) ....it's up in elevation higher than Las
Vegas, so you might want to bring some tights, arm warmers, etc....
you can also ride through the Red Rock Canyon park...along the scenic
drive...you may have to pay an entry fee...it's a good climb!
I think there's a regular ride on weekends leaving from the Starbuck's
on W. Charleston (the Summerlin ritzy residential area).
hope this helps.

Subject: Road bike rentals in Las Vegas
Does anybody happen to know if a person can rent a road bike in Las
Vegas or
perhaps the best place to do so?
I'll be there next week and don't want to just totally nuke my
training.
